“I didn’t know about this til you told me now, I was thinking I was one of the worst ones in doubles, that I can only shoot forehands,” he laughed.

“It’s been a pleasure to be with these guys, with Bjorn and Thomas behind us, and like Sascha said we cannot wait to play in London.

“I think for all the players it’s a special moment to see the stadium full especially after a tough time that we’ve all been through so thank you so much guys.”

Borg, who has led Team Europe to success in all four editions of the event, shared his pride while complimenting their opponents.

The tennis legend said: “I’m very proud of course to defend the title, keep the Captain of Europe, but I have to say with my team, I’m very proud of my team, we had 8 players in the team, 6 was playing.

“Team World has a great team too so it was two great teams playing. And like Sascha said, it could’ve gone either way in 5/6 matches but we pulled it out

“Especially to be around this Team Europe, we have a lot of fun, team spirit which I think it’s all about, plus they play good tennis.”

Speaking about the crowd in Boston and Team World’s captain, he added: “

I’ve been here many times a long time ago, I love Boston, people [are] nice, of course Team World have the home advantage here but my good friend John McEnroe, he’s keeping his team on one side, I’m keeping my team on the other side, but we have a good relationship with both teams.

This Team [world] has been around and we love this team, I love this team and what can we say, it’s been great tennis.”
