Freshen your bin

Our bins can often go neglected, and over time can start to smell of leftover food.

Again, you can buy purpose-made bin deodorisers, however, using baking soda is a cheaper alternative.

Every time you replace your bin bags before you add the bag sprinkle a dusting of baking soda into the bottom of the bin.

This should be repeated every few weeks, but make sure to wash your bin regularly and get rid of any old baking soda before refreshing.

Clean your mattress

While we often change our sheets, our mattresses can go unwashed for months at a time.

You shouldn’t scrub your mattress with soap and water if you can help it, however if you have a smelly or stained mattress you can use baking soda.

Simply sprinkle a fine layer of baking soda over your bare mattress and leave to sit for around 30 minutes.

Then hoover off the baking soda, and you should leave behind a refreshed mattress.

Remove crayon from walls

Should your little terrors take a crayon and create a masterpiece on the walls – there’s an easy way to shift it.

Simply wet a cloth, then sprinkle generously with baking soda.

Gently wipe your wall with the baking soda-soaked cloth until the marks are removed.
