Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon hit out at former US President Donald Trump for “hampering” global efforts towards climate change. He levelled a series of accusations at Mr Trump and accused him of a “lack of global vision”. Mr Ban went on to praise current President Joe Biden for his commitment to the planet. The former UN Secretary General’s comments come as he said the coming 10 years would be crucially important for global leaders to work on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Ban Ki-Moon was asked if US President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate agreement had lasting damage.
Mr Ban replied: “Of course, it really had a lot of negative impact.
“It is very encouraging now, we are relieved that President Joe Biden has taken decisive action.
“As his first presidential act, on his Inauguration Day, he signed to rejoin the climate change agreement.”

The former Secretary-General of the United Nations continued by praising the move by Biden is now “effective legally.”
But the South Korean went on to hit out at former President Trump accusing him of “hampering” global efforts towards the climate.
Mr Ki-Moon said: “But during the four years of President Trump’s time all this major international agreement like the climate change agreement.
“And all other major global security and health as well as development issues.

Ban Ki-Moon led efforts for the signing of the Paris Agreement for Climate Change in 2015.
He added: “People know that climate change is very important, very serious and needs urgent action.
“But at the same time, we have to take care of all the food shortages and gender empowerment, water shortages, quality education, resilient cities.”
His comments come as he said the coming 10 years would be crucially important for global leaders to work on the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals: 17 targets that call for action on economic, social and environmental sustainability by the year 2030.
