Barcelona board willing to pay full £10.2m price to sack Ronald Koeman immediately

It was actually against Granada that Barca lost a key match in the fight for the the Spanish title last season, and it is simply a must-win game for the Dutch coach, or the Catalan side could act quickly in an attempt to alter their damaged look.

The news comes despite Laporta openly backing Koeman towards the start of the season, as the president spoke about extending the managers deal beyond its current expiry at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Laporta was wary of leaving his Koeman short of power and authority in the dressing room which he believed is common when a deal is set to expire, and explained in an interview with Onze TV, that talks are underway with the board and Koeman’s agent Rob Jansen.

The president originally said: “Koeman has all my support, my respect and all the confidence so that he can work as comfortably as possible.
