Campaigners call for food companies to cut sugar content


Their concerns were raised by research exposing huge variation in the amounts found in sweet treats.

A survey by Action on Sugar showed many biscuits, brownies and doughnuts remain high in sugar.

Forty campaign groups have written to Health Secretary Sajid Javid urging him to set out next steps.

Caroline Cerny, of the Obesity Health Alliance said: “If the Government is serious about improving our health, it needs to act now.”
