Car tax incentives for some vehicles is a 'double-edged sword' – drivers will 'rebel'

“If you try to force people towards that, some will rebel.

“If you take out an incentive like that and just promote the real situation and the real experience, which is better.

“Just promote that and you will get more and more people transition to electric vehicles because of that rather than saving a few hundred pounds per year on tax.”

Under current rules, electric car owners are exempt from traditional Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates and do not pay fuel duty.
