Some of the groups have more than 600,000 members with hundreds of comments being posted each week.
“You will probably have to do it several times.
“Don’t use an SOS pad it could scratch it, I know some people do but i wouldn’t chance it.”
Another user commented on the post: “Weiman glass stove top cleaner, soft sponge or paper towels and a razor blade to get some of the persistent stuff off.”
Another user said: “Use a glass scraper to get the worst off then use Cif or cream cleaner with a dry microfibre cloth or kitchen roll and it will all come off.”
“I love the glass tops cause you don’t have to take them apart to clean under the burner, but nothing will stay clean if used.
“This will be second nature to scrap the glass top, and there is no scrubbing if you just pass the blade over it and wipe!”
Many social media users recommended holding the razor blade at an angle to avoid scratching the glass.
Using the corners of the blade will likely scratch the glass.
However, it’s important that you check your hob manufacturer’s manual before you use a scraper or razor blade on your glass hob.
If they advise against it, heed that recommendation.
Other recommendations from cleaning fans included using white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, a dishwasher tablet, shaving foam and Elbow Grease.
