Who is eligible for Working Tax Credit?
People are only eligible to make a claim for Working Tax Credit if they are already getting Child Tax Credit.
To get Working Tax Credit, a claimant must work a certain number of hours per week to be eligible.
According to Citizens Advice, Working Tax Credit claimants must be on a low income and work at least 16 hours a week.

The benefit can help people who are in work and out of work.
The eligibility criteria for Universal Credit determines claimants must have less than £16,000 in savings to get the benefit.
Claimants may have to wait up to five weeks for their first Universal Credit payment to be made, but after this payments should be paid regularly every month for as long as the claimant needs the benefit.
Someone who is over State Pension age may alternatively be able to apply for Pension Credit instead of Working Tax Credit.
