Drivers can clear frost of their windscreens this winter with basic household item


Drivers are urged to steer clear of using boiling water as this could do more harm than good.

Research has shown that one in five drivers have resorted to pouring boiling water over their windscreen to remove frost.

While a common practice, and unlikely to cause any issues in most cases, sudden changes in temperature are one of the best ways to turn a chip into a crack.

It’s best to use a scraper or a de-icing solution, or at least avoid blasting the heating at the windscreen at full power. Drivers can use the following solutions instead.
