FFXIV Endwalker maintenance time: How long are servers down for Final Fantasy XIV update?

FFXIV Endwalker is set to be the latest and greatest expansion released for one of the most popular and enduring Final Fantasy products ever released.

Final Fantasy 14 has grown in popularity over the last few years and has even managed to top Twitch over more established MMO names.

And this week will see the early access release of FFXIV Endwalker, the next expansion, which will add new locations and add a range of exciting new features.

Some of the most eye-catching new content revolves around the story and jobs being added with Endwalker, with Square Enix outlining earlier this year:

“Endwalker brings the tale of Hydaelyn and Zodiark to a conclusion aeons in the making. Uncover truths long concealed as you embark upon an epic quest to deliver the world from encroaching doom.”

“Meanwhile, the addition of the brand-new jobs sage and reaper is accompanied by updates to the battle system, including new actions for existing jobs and a raised level cap.

The new role of Sage Healers are expected to prove very popular, with the new job hailing from the nation of Sharlayan.

Dubbed somanoutics, this art “Seeks to heal and protect by manipulating corporeal aether through the use of nouliths, a flying array of foci.

“Practitioners are dedicated to the betterment of mankind, and for their wisdom and compassion, eventually came to be known simply as sages.”

Square Enix has confirmed that FFXIV Endwalker server downtime and maintenance will begin at 9am GMT, on Thursday, December 2.

This is to make way for the launch of the early access version of the new expansion that will be available on PC and PlayStation.

The big downside is that the game will be offline for several hours and Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy 14 servers will be down for 24-hours.

The good news is that when everything is finished, FFXIV Endwalker early access will begin at 9am GMT on Friday, December 3.

A message from Square Enix adds: “ Home World Transfer Service will be suspended 30 minutes before the maintenance. In consideration of the high server load expected immediately after the start of early access and the release of Patch 6.0, the Home World Transfer Service is scheduled to open on Dec. 4, 2021 12:00 a.m. (PST).

“Certain features in the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app will be unavailable until maintenance has ended. Any duty recorder data recorded prior to this maintenance can no longer be replayed after this maintenance.

“Following a dramatic increase in the player base in all regions since this summer, we are currently experiencing record numbers of active users, and therefore are expecting a number of logins that is yet to be seen since the launch of FFXIV.

“In preparation for these predictions, we optimized our servers ahead of the expansion’s launch in order to increase login caps.

“On the other hand, due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors we have previously mentioned, we were unable to add new Worlds before the release of Endwalker. The addition of new Worlds will still be considered as we procure the necessary server machines.”
