Cleaning your radiators can have a big impact on their performance, meaning that it can make a significant difference in how much money you are spending on heating your home. If dust collects between the fins of a radiator, heat can’t escape properly. How can you remove this dust easily and effectively?
Stelrad specialists listed the products you need to clean your radiator.
These are: a vacuum cleaner, a duster, a bucket, sponges, cloths, an old towel or dust sheet, a long stick, and Sellotape.
Before starting on the cleaning, it is important to remember to switch your heating off.
Next, use your vacuum cleaner to try to get rid of as much of the dust from in, around, and under your radiator as you can.
If you have a radiator without a top grille and side panels, you can remove the dust inside it by using the yardstick method.
Use a long piece of wood with a towel securely wrapped around its end to push any dust out of the radiator.
This will clear the inside of it and prevent any more dust from collecting.
Experts at Stelrad highlighted the importance of being careful with the type of materials you use to clean your radiator.
Make sure to avoid using abrasive materials like Brillo pads as they could damage the high shine, glossy surface of your radiators.
