How to clean grout in floor tiles with baking soda

Often all that’s needed to get floor grout sparkling is warm water and elbow grease. Giving the grout a good brush with a sponge or an old toothbrush can often shift dirt leaving grout looking brand new. But if this doesn’t do the job, there are a number of other ways to make floor grout clean again.

There are a number of grout cleaning products on the market, especially targeted for this purpose.

However, harsh cleaning chemicals aren’t the only options available when cleaning grout.

Baking soda has long been used as a versatile cleaning hack around the home.

Online, many also advocate using baking soda to get grout looking its best again.

“Do be aware that they may not be ideal for your particular choice of tiling so do check this before you start.

“It’s sensible to give the floor a quick wipe over beforehand with a soft cloth to remove any large particles of dirt which may be dragged by the steam cleaner over the face of the tile, risking scratching.

“Once you’re happy to proceed, carefully guide the steam cleaner over the floor, covering every part of the surface.

“Leave the floor to dry for a little while and then give it a final wipe over with a cloth to complete the process.”
