‘It’ll sparkle’: Mrs Hinch fan’s ‘incredible’ way to remove limescale from shower head

Mrs Hinch – real name Sophie Hincliffe – inspires millions to clean their homes each day. The cleaning influencer rose to fame after she started sharing unusual tips and ticks on her social media. Now, fans of the guru have started to share their own cleaning methods.

“After a while take it off and then spray with CLR and scrub with a toothbrush, should come up great.”

White vinegar is often used as a homemade cleaner due to its acidic nature.

The acetic acid in white vinegar is so powerful it can help to dissolve limescale, dirt, grease and grime.

It is also strong enough to kill bacteria, making it a powerful disinfectant.

Other cleaning enthusiasts recommended mixing the white vinegar with bicarbonate of soda.

Jenny Mills said: “Mix a bit of bicarbonate of soda with white vinegar and use that to clean the shower head.”

Bicarbonate of soda is a mild alkali and can cause dirt and grease to dissolve easily in water for effective removal.

Using a toothbrush will help to scrub the limescale as well as making sure to reach all the nooks and crannies.

Alison Lister wrote: “Shower heads are super cheap to replace if you don’t want to spend ages cleaning one.

“You’ll most likely get a better water flow if you replace that.”
