The riots, which some say were inspired by the former President’s allegations of vote-rigging in the election Joe Biden won, caused huge embarrassment to the US. The shocking incident saw five people die. A police officer was beaten, a rioter was shot, and three others died during the rampage.
The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot on Thursday invited Ivanka Trump, to provide information and participate in a voluntary interview.
Mr Trump has seen an attempt to block his papers on the failings surrounding the incident denied.
The US Supreme Court rejected Mr Trump’s request to withhold 800 pages of his papers regarding January 6 materials sought by the House committee investigating the Capitol insurrection.
Reports suggest that Ms Trump spent hours trying to persuade her father to intervene on the day of the riots.
A passage from Business Insider read: “I’m going down to my dad. This has to stop.”
The First Daughter and adviser to the former President left her second-floor West Wing office and headed toward the Oval Office.
She is then said to have spent “several hours walking back and forth” between the two offices, trying to convince her father to call off the MAGA assault.
A number of people in the President’s orbit asked Ms Trump to tell her father to quell the crowd.
