Lidl customers have been targeted as part of a scam circulating via email. One staff member shared a warning on Facebook to anyone who receives the message.

The message asked for personal details in exchange for the chance to win £500 to spend in stores.

Posting on Facebook, the staff member explained Lidl does not offer gift cards.

They stated: “This is a word of warning to everyone. A lot of our customers at the moment are coming into stores regarding emails and messages they’re getting from who they think is Lidl.

“Unfortunately I had another one today and I read her email and it was a scam.

DON’T MISS

“I myself got this one today, so just to inform everyone we as a company do not offer any sort of gift cards.”

The colleague stated in their experience Lidl only offers £5 gift vouchers but they are only sent by head office.

They continued to say Lidl will not contact people online to offer the gift vouchers.

“We have never done gift cards and we will never do them,” the post continued.

“If it is a scam and you receive something like this, until you give any personal details they have nothing.

“Take care, stay safe and keep your personal information.”

Anyone who thinks they have been targeted by scam messages should report them.

This can be done by contacting Action Fraud who will look into scam reports.
