Liverpool hold renewed Kylian Mbappe hope thanks to family meeting with John W Henry

Liverpool hold renewed hope of signing Kylian Mbappe after Paris Saint-Germain’s wantaway forward previously held a meeting with Reds owner John W Henry on his private jet. Mbappe is said to feel betrayed by PSG chiefs, despite only signing a new contract in May.

Mbappe was widely expected to leave PSG in the summer, with a move to Real Madrid appearing to be on the cards. But he surprisingly penned fresh terms on a mega-money new deal with PSG towards the end of last season.

Mbappe has started this campaign in imperious form and has found the back of the net 12 times in 13 matches. But earlier this week, L’Equipe reported that he feels betrayed over a string of broken promises. And his relationship with PSG is apparently at breaking points.

After refusing a move to Real Madrid earlier in the year, the 23-year-old may have burnt his bridges with the Spanish giants, who won the Champions League last season. And that could clear the way for a move to Anfield.

Liverpool could struggle to afford Mbappe’s wages on top of an enormous transfer fee. But the Reds and Mbappe are both sponsored by Nike, which could also play into Liverpool’s hands.

Mbappe’s prodigious talents have been clear to see for years. And back in 2018, Klopp said: “I love him to be honest. What a player he is and a nice lad as well, so he’s a really good kid. What a player, what a player.

“Everyone knows him since he was 16, 17, when he impressed in Monaco’s youth teams, and I saw videos of him when he was 17 and he destroyed defensive lines as he is doing now. He’s at an unbelievable level of consistency at that age. He’s an outstanding player, that’s clear, but he can deliver, deliver and deliver, which shows he’s really good educated boy and he knows what he is doing.”
