Judge Dag Bjoervik said: “I don’t want to see anything of the kind when the prosecution speaks.”

The prosecution is arguing that Breivik’s imprisonment should be extended indefinitely while he is deemed to pose a threat to society.

Randi Rosenqvist, a prison psychiatrist called as a witness, told the Verdens Gang newspaper that her assessment had not changed since 2013, when she found Breivik “would again be able to carry out acts of violence if he found it opportune”.

Hulda Karlsdottir, the lead prosecutor, told Reuters: “Our position is that it is necessary with [continued] confinement to protect society.”
