Max Verstappen aims Mercedes dig after Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton crashes

Max Verstappen aimed a dig at Mercedes after his race was once again ruined by the Silver Arrows. Lewis Hamilton crashed into Max Verstappen at the British Grand Prix two weeks ago and Valtteri Bottas pushed Lando Norris into the Red Bull in Hungary.

Both incidents happened on the opening lap and have helped Hamilton turn around a 33-point deficit to lead the Drivers’ Championship.

Verstappen was unable to continue after his Silverstone crash and Hamilton went on to win the race.

In Hungary, the Dutchman suffered huge damage when Bottas drove into the back of Norris and pushed him into Verstappen.

Red flags allowed Red Bull to fix Verstappen’s car but he was only able to secure ninth place.

“Again taken out by a Mercedes is not what you want,” Verstappen said.

“I was missing the whole side of my car and the floor was damaged as well. It was almost impossible to drive to be honest.

“I tried my best and scored one point but it’s not what you want.”

Bottas took full responsibility for the first-lap crash and says he will apologise to those whose races were affected.

“I think that’s fair enough [to get the blame]. I had a bad start and I lost the momentum,” the Finn explained.

“I misjudged the braking point and locked the wheels. I was responsible in the end for hitting Lando and that meant he cut people off in front of him.”

“It’s not great for me and not great others. It’s not like I did it on purpose.”
