Passport rules: EU requirements in full as Ryanair confusion stops family from travelling

The staff, she said, claimed those visiting an EU nation needed at least six months on their passports when travelling and three on return.

Zak Schoenville’s passport was issued in March 2017 and was due to expire on October 31, 2022, leaving five months of validity.

Mrs Schoenville said the trouble delayed their family holiday by 26 hours, forcing them to take a Jet2 flight to the destination the next day.

A closer look at EU regulations reveals the passport did fit with EU regulations.
