Royal Palace: Inside home of Swedish royalty which rivals Buckingham Palace in grandeur

Like Buckingham Palace is widely considered the monarch’s main base, the Royal Palace, or Stockholm Palace as it is also known, is the HQ of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. But while Buckingham Palace boasts an impressive 775 rooms, the vast Royal Palace has an incredible 1,430.

Where is the Royal Palace?

The Royal Palace is located in Sweden’s capital of Stockholm on Stadsholmen.

The Swedish palace is particularly scenic given its location in front of the Norrström river, but its interiors are just as stunning with ornate furniture and antiques.

In the 18th Century, the residence was built in baroque style by Nicodemus Tessin in the design of a “Roman palace”, according to the palace website.
