Sophie Wessex comforts Kate Middleton with ‘gesture of support’ at Prince Philip's funeral

As the Queen entered St George’s Chapel, she turned and bowed her head one last time at Prince Philip’s coffin before joining the Dean of Westminster in St George’s Chapel.

Thirty guests attended the funeral today in line with Covid guidance, and they all sat socially distanced from each other.

After the funeral had finished, Royal Family members departed St George’s Chapel before reuniting with one another outside.

Kate can be seen walking side-by-side with Sophie Wessex, just behind Prince Harry and Prince William.

Judi added: “She was also seen touching Kate on the back in a gesture of support and William echoed this as his arm went out to touch his wife on the back in an affectionate gesture after the service.”

Other members of the family also showed their emotional sides as they said their final goodbyes.

“Prince Charles seemed to be in tears and even Zara and Mike Tindall wore expressions that suggested very deep distress,” Judi said.

For the funeral, Kate wore a stunning necklace that belonged to the Queen along with a pair of earrings, also from the monarch’s collection.

The royal has worn several pieces of jewellery from the Queen’s collection over the years.

The pearl choker necklace was worn by Queen Elizabeth during the 1980s and 1990s.

In line with royal protocol, Sophie also dressed in an all-black outfit with a long dress and high heels.

She added a pair of pearl earrings to the look and a plain black mask.
