State pension age: DWP confirms housing benefit rates will be impacted by retirement dates

Today, the DWP updated benefit and pension rate details for the 2021 to 2022 tax year.

In late 2020, Thérèse Coffey, the Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions, confirmed how benefit rates would be increased this year, with the rises implemented in April.

However additional amendments were made today for housing benefit payments.

Housing benefit payments, for single or lone parents who reached state pension age on or after April 1, 2021, are on allowances of £177.10 per week from 2021 to 2022.
