With more people suffering for longer, more are seeing caring responsibilities increase.
However, the number of eligible carers who claimed valuable credits towards their State Pension has dropped by almost 20 percent in a year, according to recent figures from financial firm Quilter.
In total, just 5,209 people claimed carer’s credit towards their State Pension entitlement last year.
This fell from 6,489 claiming this financial benefit in 2019, according to the freedom of information request figures.
Estimates suggest just one in five of those eligible for this benefit are currently claiming it.
