Tesco rules shoppers must still follow as lockdown eases – 'we won't let anyone in'

Supermarkets have constantly adapted over the last year to enforce shopping rules in line with Government guidance. These are the latest updates Tesco has made about shopping in stores and ordering online.

It has issued a fresh statement to remind all shoppers they must wear face coverings and visit branches alone where possible.

The statement said: “Since the start of the pandemic, we have focused on ensuring everyone can get the food they need in a safe environment.

“To protect our customers and colleagues, we won’t let anyone into our stores who is not wearing a face covering, unless they are exempt in line with Government guidance.”

Face masks have been compulsory in stores in England since July last year and these rules are still in place.

It also added there will be extra security in branches to ensure customers visit alone when they are able to.

“We are also asking our customers to shop alone, unless they’re a carer or with children,” a spokesperson added.

“To support our colleagues, we will have additional security in stores to help manage this.”

Delivery update

Supermarkets are one of the few businesses that has been allowed to stay open during the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement said: “These UFCs will enable us to provide access to more delivery slots for customers with an increased rate of picking – a scalable, efficient option to fulfil ongoing online demand.”

Customers are able to choose from various options when getting a home delivery from Tesco.

The supermarket giant offers a Delivery Savers scheme, where customers can pick slots up to four weeks in advance.

Rather than paying for each order, Delivery Saver customers pay a monthly fee of £7.99 to cover all deliveries.
