You might have heard of your ‘Saturn Returns’ as a rubbish time period before your 30th birthday, but there’s much more to planetary returns than that. Your Saturn returns really is what you make of it and it happens more than once in a lifetime. Don’t forget about your Jupiter Returns either! Express.co.uk chatted to astrologer Francesca Oddie (@francescaoddieastrology on Instagram) to find out everything you need to know about planetary returns, especially the Saturn and Jupiter Returns.

A planetary return is when a planet returns to the same place it was in the sky when you were born.

Francesca said: “On your birthday we have a solar return, which is why people say ‘many happy returns’ because the sun is at the same point from our perspective on earth.

“We’ve done a whole lap so it’s the same point in the sky, and this happens with all the planets.”

What happens during Saturn returns?

You’ll see lots of advice online about “how to survive your Saturn returns,” but it really isn’t all that bad!

Francesca said: “The themes that return with Saturn are authority, responsibility, structure, boundaries, discipline, depression, limits, endings and time. At your Saturn return, it can be depressing but also great.”

Francesca explained: “Saturn brings with it a lot of karma and you reap what you sow on your Saturn return.

“If you’ve been living according to your own laws, boundaries and policies, rather than your parents or anyone else’s, then you can thrive at your Saturn returns.

“The Saturn returns will help you to become more accomplished and take more responsibility.

“If you haven’t, then you’ll end up quite depressed, but that’s ultimately Saturn pushing you towards the life that you’re supposed to be living.

“Saturn is giving you a deadline because he’s Lord of Time. Live your life, wake up!”

What happens during Jupiter returns?

Jupiter return is more welcome in most people’s lives because of its themes of generosity, abundance, wealth, luck, good fortune.

Francesca said: “Jupiter Return is normally splendid and brings lots of opportunities for growth, exposure, expansion, luck, happiness, joy and fun.”

However, it’s not all fun and games! Jupiter will heighten anything negative too.

The astrologer added: “He also expands whatever he touches, so if there are problems Jupiter can blow everything out of proportion and create an absolute mess.

“There is a myth that Jupiter is always good at Saturn is always bad. Saturn makes stuff real and concrete, which is good if you want that, and Jupiter makes things bigger and better but also bigger and worse if that’s the case.”

When is my Jupiter and Saturn returns?
