X-Men: Taron Egerton and Karl Urban ‘in consideration to play Wolverine in the MCU’

Hugh Jackman starred as the mutant Wolverine across an impressive nine of Fox’s X-Men movies. In 2017, the Aussie actor famously bowed out with a bloody death scene at the conclusion of Logan. But now as Disney have bought the rights, the X-Men and Wolverine will be entering the MCU.

However, the big question is whether or not the X-Men will be rebooted for the MCU or whether the Fox characters will be introduced to the Disney franchise thanks to the multiverse.

Fans were ecstatic when Evan Peters’ Quicksilver appeared in WandaVision, although sadly for some this turned out to be just a meta-joke.

Even so, if it had been the case that the Fox characters were entering the MCU, it’s unlikely Jackman would be persuaded to return to his role which he feels had a proper ending in Logan.

And now Giant Freakin Robot’s “trusted and proven insider” is claiming that Marvel Studios are indeed looking for an actor to play the MCU’s version of Wolverine.

According to the outlet’s source, Marvel Studios’ first choice is Kingsman star Taron Egerton, whose name has been brought up several times by fans.

However, the insider claims that: “Yt might not look like they can nab him.

“Because of that, they are starting to look outward to other actors and Karl Urban is one of their choices.”

Of course, fans will point out that Urban has already played an MCU character in Skurge, who perished at Thor Ragnarok’s end.

Of course, it’s still possible that there could be more than one Wolverine in the MCU.

After all, with rumours rife of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parkers appearing Spider-Man: No Way Home, maybe there will be multiple versions of other characters from across the multiverse.

For example, just imagine Jackman being persuaded to return opposite Urban or Egerton (or even both of them) playing Wolverine.

Aside from the Spider-Man rumours, we’ve already seen a number of Captain Americas introduced this year from Wyatt Russell’s John Walker to former super-soldier Isaiah Bradley, who have turned up in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

While there’s also Peggy Carter’s Captain Britain who is set to appear in Disney+ show What If…? And no doubt Sam Wilson will take up the shield himself eventually.

Now if that weren’t enough there’s at least two Thors in Thor: Love and Thunder and possibly multiple Lokis in the upcoming Loki show.

Could this mean Avengers 5 is heading for an adaptation of the Secret Wars comic storyline where different versions of the same characters from across the multiverse collide? Here’s hoping!
