Harry Kane has 'gentleman's agreement' with Daniel Levy over Tottenham transfer

Harry Kane reportedly made a gentleman’s agreement with Daniel Levy last summer that he would give it one more season at Tottenham. The striker is now said to believe that he will be granted permission to leave the club on the basis of the pact made at the end of last season with Levy.

Kane raised his frustrations with Spurs’ lack of success to Jose Mourinho upon the Portuguese’s arrival in north London.

Mourinho had vowed to make Kane “explode” under his leadership but the team seemingly regressed during his 18-month tenure.

Tottenham have failed to secure Champions League football for a second successive season, ending all hope of keeping Kane who understandably wants to be challenging for the biggest prizes.

According to The Evening Standard, Kane told Levy he wanted to leave at the end of last season.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are also said to have initiated contact with his representatives over a potential move.

Spurs are set to demand up to £150million for the 27-year-old.

The England captain recently made it clear that he was determined to finish his career with some medals to show for his individual accolades.

“Individual awards are great, they are fantastic achievements,” Kane told Standard Sport in April after winning London Football of the Year.

“When I look back at the end of my career, I will go over it and take in a little bit more. The goal right now as a player is to win team trophies.

“I want to be winning the biggest prizes that there is to offer as a team and we are not quite doing that.”

Tottenham do hold the power when it comes to keeping their talisman, who is unlikely to cause problems in order to force an exit.

Kane’s current Spurs contract runs until 2024 meaning Tottenham are under no pressure to sell.
