‘Dust won’t stick!’ Mrs Hinch fans share £1 hack to oust dust from skirting boards

Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch has become hugely famous over the years for sharing her ingenious cleaning and tidying tricks and hacks. Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, now has over 4.1 million followers on Instagram and has authored several books. Fans of hers have even taken to social media to create their own groups dedicated to sharing cheap and nifty cleaning tips.

Carol Rimmer said: “Try wiping them with diluted fabric conditioner which may help prevent static.”

Chloe Leigh suggested similarly: “Get a dishmatic handle thing, put hot water in and some fabric softener in and away you go.”

Tracy Bowen wrote: “Try cleaning with diluted fabric softener. Seems to help.”

Linda Sharkie said: “Rub with fabric softener.”

You can buy fabric conditioner for as little as £1 from Wilko , £1.75 from Ocado and £1.60 from Morrisons.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using a mop, a hoover and tumble dryer sheets.

Wendy Nuttall said: “I use a clean dry mop.

“I’ve got a bad leg at the moment so I’ve had to improvise and it’s so much better than on my knees.”

Jenoir McDonald wrote: “I hoover mine as I clean the house every few days.

“It’s unfortunately part of people living in the home, as we create dust.

“Every month I go around with some polish and a microfibre cloth and dust them over too.”

Shona Coleman commented: “I use tumble dryer sheets on mine.

“I read somewhere that it helps and so far I’ve not had to dust the skirting boards as much.

“Eventually, I want to replace the white skirting boards with natural wood, and the doors and door frames too.”

Denise Miller said: “I usually hoover daily or every second day, and I just take the head off the hoover and go over the skirting as well each time.

“Never gets too dusty that way.”
