Energy bills could hit £4,347 next year after price guarantee U-turn – list of support

Andy Barr, the retail expert and co-founder of Aletr, noted that the Government’s decision to roll back the price guarantee will do little to “reassure households”.

Mr Barr said: “The new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, confirmed that the energy price guarantee will now only last in its current form until April, which will do little to reassure UK households who are already being crippled by rising bills.

“While the support the Government is providing between now and April next year will not change, neither Hunt nor Truss have announced how they’ll support Britons with their energy bills beyond April next year.

“That’ll come as unwelcome news for those vulnerable households who are struggling to keep up with the rising costs of living; people need to know that help is coming and that the Government is taking steps to support families with the cost of energy post-April.
