Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of update 22.20 on consoles and PC. The new Fortnite update will bring back the annual Fortnitemares Halloween event, not to mention a whole host of gameplay tweaks, map changes, and bug fixes. Needless to say, as a numbered update, version 22.20 will launch alongside a period of extended server downtime on all platforms. If you want to know when you can start logging back into Fortnite, then check out the downtime schedule below.
Fortnite update 22.20 will be available to download from 9am BST UK time on the morning of October 18.
Matchmaking will begin to be disabled at 8.30am, while servers will be taken offline in full at 9am BST.
“Fortnitemares returns in v22.20! Downtime for this update begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand,” Epic tweets.
“Note: Players on Android devices may experience longer than normal install times with v22.20.”
If it’s anything like previous periods of server downtime, then Fortnite is likely to come back online at around 11am BST.
Express Online will keep this article updated with all the latest developments, including confirmation on when the game is back online.
As for what fans can expect from update 22.20, the big new feature is the return of Fortnitemares.
The Halloween event typically adds a host of bonus items and rewards for players to unlock, not to mention exclusive challenges and spooky game modes.
To tie in with the launch of Fortnitemares, players will be able to use the Pumpkin Shockwave Launcher, potentially to defeat the brand new Halloween boss.
Elsewhere, the Grapple Glove will be vaulted, and Epic will also make the usual array of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
