Hakim Ziyech
There is slightly more positive news in terms of Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan has missed the last two matches with a virus but is winning his race to be well enough to feature against Brentford.
It is unlikely that Ziyech will start given the excellent form of Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling, but he provides an excellent option off the bench should Potter require a different type of attacker on the pitch. The 29-year-old was not mentioned by the Chelsea boss on Friday when he was asked about absentees.
Thiago Silva
Potter might try to find a way to give Thiago Silva a rest for the trip to Brentford. The veteran defender experienced tightness in his hamstring after Chelsea beat Aston Villa on Sunday.
“He is at the highest level you can think of as a character and as a man. How he leads the team, how he is playing, he has made some really important blocks and interceptions,” Potter said in his post-match press conference.
“He has that know-how that you can’t put a price on. He felt a little tightness in his hamstring so we’ll see how he recovers for Wednesday but apart from that, he is a top person.”
Predicted Chelsea XI: Kepa Arrizabalaga; Trevoh Chalobah, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella; Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher, Jorginho, Ben Chilwell; Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
