Many homeowners’ needs and wants have shifted since the pandemic started, with the shift to home working here to stay. With demand for housing still high, property expert Phil Spencer, known for shows such as Location, Location, Location, has shared the most “desirable” areas to live in the country.

In a recent video for Move iQ, the expert explained: “The shift to home working means that many of us are longer tied to commuting daily and that may offer the chance to move out of high price areas and seek a better quality of life and perhaps a bigger home.

“With this in mind we’ve rated the most desirable places to live in post-pandemic Britain and 1,400 towns and cities were ranked for a number of factors.”

Areas were ranked on their crime rates, community attractions as well as things like the air quality.

Phil explained that Bath, Somerset, came out on top.

“It has authentic charm and a mediaeval feel to it.”

Cobblestones streets, independent shops and crooked Tudor buildings all attract the thousands of tourists who visit Rye each year.

With an average property price of £325,000, Ilfracombe in North Devon came next on the list, a seaside town popular with foodies.

With a small harbour surrounded by cliffs, the area boasts plenty of seaside walks.

Following North Devon came Wilton in North Yorkshire, which ranked fifth for architectural beauty.

Aldeburgh in Suffolk, Faversham in Kent, Langport in Somerset and Hay-on-Wye in Powys also made it onto the list.

In 14th place came Lewes in East Sussex, known for its independent shops and Lyme Regis in Dorset, where the average property costs £520,000.
